The best laid plans…

This post is about a month late. That fact is a pretty good illustration of how busy my summer is. Sailing, moving into a new apartment (the lovely lady in my pictures in my new roommie), seeing a new boy, who seems to be sticking around, and more sailing have pushed blogging to the back burner. I’ll be back soon… sometime. Promise.
West Wing and a book about baking/ being a goddess… oh the things our belongings say about us.
Still MIA from the blogging world. In the past two weeks I decided to move, found a new apartment and by this evening will be moved out of my old one. The only two hitches in this plan are that I’m “homeless” for a week between apartments and my camera is in the storage unit. I’m a SMRT blogger, genius really.
Day & Night

Sailing keeps me from blogging. I don’t form sentences very well when I climb off a boat at 4AM and roll into work at 8AM.
Thank goodness for friends who take pictures or I’d be totally MIA from the blogging world.
Sunburns and face viels

Most of last week I spent in a swim suit and a face veil. Because of course if you are going to expose 90% of your body the part you want to cover is your face. It was for an event through the sailing club. Our team was Arabian themed. I’ve become quite proficent at rolling turbans. We won best costumes and drank champagne out of our trophy.
And here’s a fact: I know how to belly dance but this picture is the closest I’ll ever get to posting photos of myself doing so.

One final fact: face veils don’t prevent sunburn.
Seasonal Depression

I think my poor little blog has caught a bug. I’m afraid it has been suffering from seasonal blog depression. I’m not sad, quite the opposite. But my poor little blog has been a little neglected. I’ll break seasonal blog depression down for you:
Seasonal: -adj- pertaining to, dependent on, or accompanying the seasons (in this case summer)
Blog: -noun- an online chronicle of a persons thoughts, photos ect. (that would be this site)
Depression:-noun- the state of being lower in amount or value ( blog posts and photos being the item that is lower in amount)
In summary, it is summer so this blog has fewer posts. I’ve only taken one set of outfit photos in the past two weeks but Ms. Alexandra of Mode Moods asked me to guest post for her weeks ago and my Guest Post went up yesterday so until I get my blogging act together hop on over to her site and check it out.
Bamboo Pillowcases

Dress: Tinc, an small San Francisco Designer
Cardigan: Banana Republic
Sandals: via DWS
This dress is made from bamboo. It is probably the most comfortable fabric I’ve ever worn. Someday I will buy sheets made from bamboo. Someday when I’m wealthy. Come to think of it this dress looks a bit like a pillowcase. But until the day I can afford more than a single bamboo pillowcase my crisp oxford sheets will do just find. (Self promotion, what?!)
Girl Date

Dress: Marshall’s
Cardigan: Banana Republic
Shoes: Steve Madden
Necklace: Loft
Belt: vintage
Bag: Longchamp
Way back when I wanted to start a blog I was googling possible names to see if they were taken and I stumbled upon Claire’s blog, Between Laundry Days. Great minds think a like I guess.
I had such a great hopes for a post about our blogger girl date. But I seem to have lost my brain somewhere between Sunday’s brunch and now. So until I find it I will leave you with this photo of the adorable and equally affable Claire, and a delish bloody mary from my favorite brunch place where Claire and I met.

Blankie

Jacket: American Eagle
Tank: Gap
Skirt: American Apparel
Necklace: Loft
Flying in style. Comfort comes first but you never know who you might meet on a plane. I’m an optimistic traveler in that sense. The prospect of sitting next to a cute boy or a potential future employer is always there. Juxtapose this with my propensity to freeze on planes, the fact that my preferred flying position is with my feet tucked under me and it makes for some dressing dilemmas. Look cute, be warm, be comfortable and don’t flash your fellow travelers. Enter the maxi skirt. It is perfect, I don’t know why I’ve not worn it to fly in before. Fashionable, warm, coochie covering and it even sort of looks like those airline blankets you get when you don’t dress properly and need add warmth and modesty. My own little wearable blankie.
